NEW £850k Aston Martin V12 Speedster - First Drive Review!  20 Jun 2021

Aston V12 Speedster 6

I got my hands on one of the new Aston Martin V12 Speedster, a two-seater supercar with no roof and no windscreen. Aston Martin are making just 88 of the V12 Speedster and we are going to take it out for first test drive review.

At a starting price of £675,000, and this model selling for £850k, this carbon fibre, light weight car’s defining feature is where you sit. It has one of the most beautiful interiors I’ve ever seen, with a host of intricate interior details which, being a roofless car, are on display 100% of the time. And each of the details on show, are a testament to the level of attention that’s been paid to every aspect of the car. The lack of roof truly opens up the driving experience, posing a unique and niche proposition.

One thing that you may need to drive this car is a helmet, which led to the design of one of the Speedster’s most unique features. The boot space at the back incorporates a specially designed helmet storage clip for both driver and passenger, allowing helmets to be stored and also viewed in this beautiful compartment. Overall, it also possesses a much bigger boot space than I had imagined, which would allow you to pack a bag and go on a weekend away, which would be a truly special experience.

Taking the Aston Martin Speedster out on the road is a totally different driving experience, although it was a shame about the weather! I’ve never seen anything turn heads like this car does, to the point that it might actually be dangerous.

Aston V12 Speedster 3

Driving this genre of vehicle is in a category of its own. With an absolutely savage throttle response, capable of 690bhp and 550 foot-pounds of torque, the Speedster can reach almost 190mph and can do 0-60 in 3.5s.  One of the most significant features of this car is the incredible views from all angles. The visibility is as good as you’re ever going to get from a car, and is incredible from taking in the scenery to parking.

It’s incredible to be out driving a car that’s purely for enjoyment, that puts a smile on your face and gives you an all-round good day out. To be honest, there is absolutely no need for a car like this, but I still think we need more of them.
