The Most Highly Optioned McLaren 765LT Ever!? 8 Aug 2021

McLaren 765 LT

Without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to the highly spec’d McLaren 765LT. It’s ultimately on its way to Dubai, so thank you Qais (a.k.a. @GlovesInGray) for the opportunity to showcase this special model.

It’s optioned to shed more weight and pack more power, shaving roughly 80kg off the standard 720S, increasing the horsepower to 765ps, aka 765 brake horsepower. Some more mind-bending stats to start; 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds, and 0-124mph in 7 seconds. With a V8 engine, it’s designed for driver engagement and pure theatre on the track.

The paint is astounding, it’s yellow with a turquoise undertone, which stuns in direct sunlight and shows the sculpture beautifully. There’s an emotional element to the paint choice as well though, as its new owner has named the shade ‘Galia Yellow’ after his daughter, and it’s a truly unique shade.

My favourite feature on this is the wheels; black wheels on one side, black on the other. On one side, we have silver wheels with black callipers, and on the other, black wheels and silver callipers; the best of both worlds, I personally love it! A carbon fibre bonnet was specifically optioned; a feat of engineering to ensure the weave of the carbon lined up perfectly in the car’s central stripe. The McLaren logo, lacquered underneath the topcoat, is an exclusive option to the carbon fibre hood also.

Under the hood though, there are even more stunning details. Qais had the signatures of everyone involved with this project applied to the underside of the bonnet, and I’m truly honoured that ‘Mr JWW’ is etched into one of the most beautiful cars on the road. On each opposing door blade, there are outlines of two of the most prominent race circuits in the UAE, Yas Marina and the Dubai Autodrome.  Yas Marina is about to change layout, so the outline is a fantastic homage to some F1 history.

Interiorly, we continue with the Galia Yellow pinstripe accents, which accentuate the shape of the cockpit. Uniquely, on the driver’s side, we have a quote from American poet and philospher Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Power and Speed be Hands and Feet”. On the other, Qais’ @GlovesInGray handle! The additional padding is also specific to this car, Galia accented indicators and Qais’ Gloves in Gray logo. Behind the roll cage, the carbon chute acts as an induction chamber which enhances the sound of the engine, I love this feature.

It was an absolute privilege to show you all round this McLaren 765LT, and hopefully, the next time we see this unique model will be under the Dubai sunshine…
